Chapter 4 The cabbage patch party
This story starts off on a cold morning. It was Katie's birthday of all days and her family were off to work and school. Katie got out of bed and held Celeste, her favorite doll. Good morning celeste. Katie said holding her doll close. It's my birthday and I'm all alone. I want someone to spend my birthday with, but I have no friends. Katie smiled. Maybe I can spend the day with you! She held celeste's hands and thought really hard. Celeste came to life in the usual way.
she walked toward Katie and smiled. Where's haylee. She said. She's at school. That brings me to why I called you. Katie began. Today's my birthday. everyone's at work and school. I'm lonely. Celeste smiled. Lonely, you say. I think I can fix that. celeste began to use her cell phone. What are you doing? Katie asked. You'll see. i'll be right back. don't go anywhere. Ok. Katie said.
After Celeste went to the living room, six girls appeared in a puff of smoke. We are here. said the girls. Good. said Celeste. Now, you know why I called you. It's Katie's birthday. She wants friends to spend it with. why don't we throw a party for her. good Idea. said Darcy, one of the girls. I need all of you girls to set it up. We need to make it quick. Katie's mom will be here this afternoon. What do you want us to do? said molly. Ok.
Let's split into teams of two. Darcy and Alesha, . you're in charge of the decorations. Amy and molly, here's my phone. why don't you find some music to liisten to. Ruthe and lula, I want you !prepare a nice lunch for Katie. Also, I'd love it if you bake a cake while you're at it. i'll supply the things you'll need for that. Celeste shook her head and rolled her eyes. Everything needed for a chocolate cake appeared. While you're working, why don't you think of some games we can play. Does all of you understand what you have to do? Yes mam. the girls said. get to it and I'll sit with Katie. I'll check on you later.
When celeste left the room, the girls got to work. Darcy and alesha hung up streamers and blew up balloons. So, how do you want the house to look. said alesha. Well, said darcy, why don't we hang streamers on the walls, and balloons on the floor and ceiling. Ok. said darcy. They worked until the house looked nice.
As far as ruthe and lula goes, they were baking a lovely cake. What kind of icing would Katie like. said Lula. I think she'd like strawberry icing with sprinkles on top. Let's get the cake out of the oven. said lula. I think it's done. said ruthe. Ruthe got the cake out and smiled. It looks lovely. said lula. It does. said ruthe. Lets put it in the ice box. said Ruthe. And so they did:
The other girls were looking for the best music for the party. S. molly said. What would Katie like to listen too. molly said going through Celeste's phone. I don't know. find something happy. said Amy. They tried different songs until they found the perfect playlist. The phone isn't loud enough. molly said. Why don't we use Katie's surround sound. Ok. said Amy. Let's wait a little while till Katie gets here.
Celeste came back into the room. All right girls. Is everything ready? It's going on 10. Yes mam. said Amy. I'll bring Katie in. Stay still and quiet. said celeste. Celeste went to collect Katie. Will you come in the living room? she said. Someone's waiting for you. Who? Katie said smiling. Go in there and you'll see! Celeste lead Katie in the living room. The girls jumped out from behind the couch and yelled, surprise! Happy birthday. They ran to hug Katie. Katie said, who are all of you? we're Celeste's friends. Amy, molly, darcy, Aleesha, lula, and ruthe. Nice to meet you all. Katie said.
lets have some music. said Amy. She hooked up the phone, and put on the music. Come on. lets dance. said Amy. Katie, celeste, and the other girls danced for a while. one of Katie's favorite songs came on. I love this one. said Katie. Why don't you all sing along. said Celeste. And so they did.
After that, it was time for lunch. Lets go to the kitchen. said lula. I made something special for you. Katie sat down. pizza. Thanks. she said. why don't everyone sit down and eat. Each one of the girls sat down and had a piece of pizza. Where did you find such great food. said Katie. I found these pizzas in your freezer and i heated them up. ruthe smiled. Celeste told me you liked Pepperoni. I do. Katie said. As they ate, the girls started talking.
So how long have you known Celeste. said Molly. Not quite a year. we met at a pond by our house. She brought my sister back home. Tell us a little about you. said Darcy. I am blind. said Katie. Blind? Really? said Amy. Yes. I can't see you, but I know who you are by what you sound like. What about you. We come from doll land. said Darcy. Just like Celeste does. I went there with my sister. Katie said. Do you like it? said Amy. Yes. darcy stood up from her chair. and walked toward Katie. Feel of me. she said. Katie felt of Darcy and smiled. are you cabbage patch? We are all! said Aleesha. I knew you loved Cabbage patches, so i knew you would like my friends. celeste said. The girls finished there meal and cleaned the table.
celeste turned and looked at the girls. Have you decided on a game to play. Yes. said Molly. Musical chairs. Katie's living room has plenty of places to sit. Very well. said Celeste. Everyone come to the living room. When the music stops, find a place to sit. Amy started the music. the girls spun and danced around. When the music stopped, all but Amy was sitting. Amy's out. said Molly. Amy sat in the kitchen. The rest danced and ran and spun until the music stopped. All but one were iliminated except for Molly. You won! said Katie.
It's about 2:30. said Alesha. Katie's mom will be here soon. That's right. What about the cake. Is it ready. celeste said. It sure is, ruthe smiled. I'll put it on the table. The girls walked to the table and sat down. the cake, in the middle of the table, was lovely. It was short, fat, and square. It was a chocolate cake with strawberry icing. On top, it said Happy birthday Katie in chocolate icing. The cake looks good. said Katie. Thanks. said Ruthe. Everyone held hands and sang Happy birthday. The cake was as good as it looked. The girls ate until they were full.
it's almost time. said Molly. We have to clean up. The girls got back into there teams and restored the house to before they came. They took down the decorations, washed the dishes. Well done. said Celeste. why don't we say goodbye to Katie. The girls surrounded Katie and hugged her. They sang their special good bye song. While mom was pulling up, the girls vanished and the house was like nothing ever happened. When mom got home, celeste and Katie headed to the bedroom. katie hugged her good friend. Thanks for the great party. Any time. celeste smiled at Katie. I'm glad I made your birthday.
